Director’s recognition for innovation and leadership
The Director’s Recognition for Innovation and Leadership Award celebrates individuals in Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) who have combined the characteristics of innovation and leadership to improve our system and advance the strategic direction goals of improving student learning and achievement, and fostering student and staff well-being. The award is presented by the director of education, Wes Hahn, at each TLDSB Public Meeting of the Board. Hahn introduced this month’s recipient:
Technology Services’ system support software specialist, Chris Tindale, was recognized for addressing an essential system need by developing a new tool that sorts and stores data for Kindergarten (K) to Grade 8 literacy data. This tool was designed to support the data results from the mandatory Early Reading Screening for K to Grade 2 students. Tindale demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise in this process.
This tool has greatly assisted classroom teachers, administrators, and central staff in making informed, data-driven decisions that directly contribute to the system’s commitment to improving literacy outcomes for every student. Tindale’s thoughtful integration of literacy measures with PowerSchool data also supports ongoing communication with parents/guardians.

Director’s update
Director of education, Wes Hahn, spoke briefly about the challenges that this winter’s weather has brought to the system and how well everyone has handled the inclement weather, specifically highlighting the work of Facility Services staff.
Hahn shared that during an administrator region meeting last week, the following individuals were recognized for their leadership, devotion to student success, and for the care, compassion, and knowledge they bring to their school(s):

- Kim Newman and Arron Emms from Lady Mackenzie Public School
- Lisa Uuldriks from the Adult and Alternative Education Centres
