Free for families – evening virtual presentation by Jamie McMillan

We are excited to let you know about a free opportunity for students and families. Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) will be hosting keynote speaker ironworker/boilermaker and founder of Workboot Careers, Jamie McMillan, during the week of March 7-11. All sessions will take place virtually. Classroom presentations are taking place during the school day. Please see the February 15th memo Jamie McMillan – March 7 – 11, 2022 memo shared.  All the Kids on Builder Street school presentations (K-3) are FULL. There are some Work boot Careers presentations (Grade 7-12) still available.

McMillan speaks to youth across North America, encouraging them to consider careers in the skilled trades and technology. Among McMillan’s many awards and accomplishments are the Top 20 under 40 Award for making an impact in the metal trades, the OYAP Champion Award, as well as the Hamilton Woman of Distinction Award for being a trailblazer in her field, promoting leadership and equal advancement opportunities. McMillan believes that, “The more we educate young women and men through mentorship, the more they will see the many incredible career paths they can pursue in the skilled trades.”
